The Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway is a program that was started by the brothers of the Phi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. This program was started to ensure families in need in San Diego County have a meal for Thanksgiving. We accept requests from families in need throughout the county. Phi Omicron has partnered with their nonprofit, Restore, Uplift, and Hope San Diego (RUHSD) in the past to host this event. The nonprofit was started to provide economic, community, and educational development for the underserved residents of the City of San Diego and surrounding communities.

Over the last 15 years, this event has grown from our first year delivering five dinners to last year providing meals to over 200 families, and over the years, we have fed thousands of families. This year we are aiming to increase those efforts. In this effort, we are partnering with the 61st and Division Streets
Church of Christ to host the event. Other organizations who will participate will be Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - San Diego Alumnae Chapter (SDAC), The Grandparent’s Connection (GPC), the San Diego Area Spelman and Morehouse Alumni Associations and Restore, Uplift, and Hope San Diego (RUHSD).

We are looking to support over 350 families this year. ($10,000.00) 100% of the proceeds go into the program providing turkeys and other food items needed for a complete and healthy Thanksgiving meal. This year will be similar to last year. We will do more meal drop-offs, and the church will be a
drive-through center to decrease contact with others.
